Here at Blenders, our team has interests and passions that go beyond our day-to-day work in style, fashion, and sports. And so, today, we want to look elsewhere and chat about how others are making a difference through their efforts.
Specifically, we’re talking about the efforts of WILDCOAST.
WILDCOAST is a non-profit doing good work locally and abroad—and there are some seriously exciting things coming from them on the horizon.
Global marine wildlife is at risk. Pollution, climate change, mining concessions, industrial and tourism development, and more all conspire to disrupt habitats and endanger or even wipe out various species. Our oceans and coastlines are in trouble—much hangs in the balance.
WILDCOAST understands all of the above. And, through their leadership, stewardship, diversity and, of course, passion, they’re striving to flip the script and save marine life and habitats throughout California and Latin America.
Now in their 18th year, WILDCOAST places an emphasis on the conservation and restoration of our oceans, coral reefs, coastal wetlands, mangroves, and the wildlands of the Baja California Peninsula. Special attention is paid to the plight of sea turtles and the gray whale nursery habitat. All told, they’re busting their butts to save 31.9 million acres throughout the United States, Mexico, and Cuba.
Conserved. Restored. Sustained. That’s the goal—and now we want to help, too.
We’re stoked to announce that we’re teaming up with WILDCOAST to produce the 'Paradise Cove Blendo Box,’a one-run-only collection of goodness that not only will have you looking great but will help do great things for our environment, too.
This bomb-ass box will be packed with two sick L-series sunnies in contrasting blue and pink, a duo of matching neoprene pouches, and a custom sticker pack and pin. The art and styling has all been profoundly influenced by our love of seaside San Diego. Most importantly, proceeds from every Blendo Box purchase get donated to WILDCOAST’s cause.
You can get your lil paws on the limited-edition Paradise Cove Blendo Box when it goes LIVEfor sale this upcoming Wednesday, August 22nd.
And since we’re on the topic of WILDCOAST, if you’re looking for something to do in the San Diego area next month, they’ve got you.
The non-profit is putting on the Dempsey Holder Ocean Festival and Surf Competition—a spirited celebration of the surf lifestyle born outta Imperial Beach down through Baja. WILDCOAST throws this bash annually to honor big-wave surfing pioneer, Allen "Dempsey" Holder, and as you’d expect, proceeds from the festival will aid their efforts to preserve our coastlines.
