If you’re into stand-up, the hot local ticket this month is actor and comic Bryan Callen at The American Comedy Company. He got his start in 95 as an original cast member of MAD TV, although you’ll likely know him best as “Coach Mellor” on ABC’s “The Goldbergs” and as “Eddie” in “The Hangover" and "Samir" in “The Hangover Part 2.” He’s also appeared in “Sex and the City,” “Californication,” and “Entourage.”

This likely wouldn’t be at the top of your list any other time of year unless you’re got a serious sweet tooth, but this chocolate fest’s timing just before Valentine’s Day makes it a potentially perfect date prior to the 14th. It offers a tour through designated downtown spots (shops, spas, and restaurants) while providing a smorgasbord of chocolate samples. You can also take a horse-drawn carriage ride down Historic Grand Avenue. And don’t worry, guys—if you don’t have a sweet tooth, just know that the chocolates are paired with local craft beers and fine wines. Boom!

3. Vive Le Vodka Martini w/ Grey Goose at Amaya

What up, big spender. If you’re not shy about letting someone special in your life know how much you care—and you both really just wanna get a lil drunk (or a lot) in a fancy, pre-Valentine’s date environment—the “Vive Le Vodka Martini” at Fairmont Grand Del Mar's Amaya is for you. Grey Goose Ambassador Selena Donovan will be on location to guide you through the history of the martini during a four-course affair that pairs dope-ass cuisine with signature cocktails inside Amaya’s private dining room.

4. Brewbies Beer Festival

OK, maybe you’re not down for $125 at Amaya above (or maybe you’re just not a liquor person). If so, Brewbies Beer Festival’s got your back. There’s a huge collection of signature beers from over 40 breweries on tap and, best of all, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to our friends at Keep A Breast Foundation, strengthening their mission to bring breast health education and support to youths everywhere.

After all these sweets, fancy Valentine’s Day meals, and beer festivals, you might feel compelled to burn off some calories or simply enjoy a runner’s high. If so, there’s the Coronado 10K, 5K & 1 Mile Run. The top three finishers in each men’s and women’s age category receive hand-carved tikis, although every participant is also gifted a shirt, finishers medal, and continental breakfast. Also, if you choose to opt in, there’s a Match Making aspect that has you run with a bib that indicates your relationship status, so it’s a chance to meet like-minded, physically-fit hotties like yourself.

And yes, there is a post-race beer garden!

Football fanatic? Well, if the snooze-fest that was the Super Bowl has you down, you can turn to an altogether new product: the Alliance of American Football (AAF). Fortunately for you, there’s a hometown team—the San Diego Fleet—and this gridiron match against the Atlanta Legends is the Fleet’s inaugural game in the inaugural season of the league, so history’s being made. Coached by Super Bowl-winning offensive coordinator and former NFL head coach, Mike Martz, this is your chance to get in on the ground floor with the new franchise.
