Sneakerheads, rejoice! The year’s not even half over, but there’s already been a number of notable shoe releases.
Below, we’re picking a few of our favorites so far to show off just how sartorially savvy we are. Pair any of these with your favorite, affordable sunglasses and the quintessential “I’m-trying-just-enough-but-not-trying-too-hard” ensemble, and you’ll be ready to slay at that next social event.
1. ACRONYM x NikeLab Air Force 1 Downtown

We live for collabs and this is a notable one. Canadian designer Errolson Hugh tries his hand at the Air Force 1 and comes away with a sick and distinguished winner with the ACRONYM x NikeLab Air Force 1 Downtown. A member of a limited NikeLab release, these kicks feature a, “Whoa, look at that!” milspec strap closure at the top, as well as decidedly tactical highlights throughout its design. Good luck getting your hands on one of these! (Best chance: eBay.)
2. Adidas Yeezy Calabasas Powerphase

Looking for a more conservative, ultra-clean look, but tired of seeing a sea of Superstars out there? Pony up the cash and spring for a pair from Kanye’s collection. Originally released in March for $120, you’re gonna have to pay significantly more now for these 80s-inspired sneakers, however. (Which would go great with a pair of University Heights, btw. We’re just sayin’.)
3. Maison Kitsuné Canvas Sneakers

Switching up the aesthetic, we have these sublimely elegant canvas kicks from Parisian label Maison Kitsuné. You can make this work with a butt-load of outfits, from the super-chill to the uber-sophisticated. We’re particularly feeling this baby/Carolina blue-and-white colorway—goes perfect with a pair of polarized sunglasses on a summer afternoon. (Buy now for $195.)
4. Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Royal”

There’s nothing like an evergreen pair of kicks, and these Air Jordan 1’s are one of the most lusted-over in history. Plus, this particular black-and-blue colorway is killer. (Buy now for $99.97.)
5. adidas NMD_R1 “OG”

First strutting their stuff in 2016, the adidas NMD_R1 “OG” made a comeback on January 14 in their OG colorway. The red and blue dashes adhered to the sole give a strong dose of eye-catching character. But again, good luck copping a pair without missing your rent payment.
If you think we missed a standout—and we know we did—don’t worry, we’ll be back throughout the year to revisit this list. Until then, no matter what you have wrapped around your feet, enjoy yourself out there!
