Out here in our neck of the woods and looking to do something for Memorial Day? Wanna be seen slaying in those new Weekend Flyer sunglasses of yours? Dope. Here’s our roundup of some of the finest events going down this weekend as we all look to celebrate the red, white, and blue with some sun, sand, and surf:

 

1. Port of San Diego Festival of the Sea 

When: May 25 to 27, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Maritime Museum of San Diego

The Port of San Diego Festival of the Sea offers a three-day extravaganza with access to all vessels, a variety of exhibits, live music, an artist exhibition and more. Importantly for our demo here, there’s also the Berkeley Bar that will be open on the upper deck during the artist exhibition; food and wine will be served (additional charge) from 5 p.m. onward on Saturday through Monday. 

Of particular note is the HMS Surprise On-board Pub, which opens from 5 until 9 p.m. on both Sat. and Sun. and includes live music from Trad-Rock band John Kraus and The Goers. Further, food trucks will be on-site daily!

2. Pier Pressure San Diego Memorial Weekend Mega Yacht Party

If you’re looking to rage this Memorial Day, this is your chance. The Pier Pressure San Diego party is one of the largest in the area and offers three decks, three dance areas, and 8 DJs on the 1200-person luxury vessel, the Hornblower Inspiration Yacht. This year’s DJs include Donald Glaude, Scotty Boy, and Deep Tribe. Several fully-staffed bars offered; 21+ only for this opportunity! 

 

3. House of Pacific Relations' Ethnic Food Fair

4. San Diego Memorial Day Cruises

Looking for something romantic to do with a hot date this Memorial Day? We feel you. Consider the various San Diego Memorial Day cruises this weekend. The Harbor Cruise lasts for a couple of hours and offers a look at marine animals and seabirds, while the Brunch Cruise offers a full brunch buffet, dessert buffet, and bottomless champagne, mimosas, domestic beer, and sparkling cider.

Oh, and if you’re really feeling frisky, spring for the Memorial Day Sunset Dinner Cruise. It’s a three-hour event aboard a yacht in the San Diego Bay that delivers a private table, boarding glass of champagne or cider, a DJ, and a choice from three available three-course dinners.

 

5. Santee Street Fair and Craft Beer Festival

The 10th Annual Santee Street Fair and Craft Beer Festival boasts live music and entertainment, carnival rides, and more than 300 (yes, 300) food and craft vendor booths. And if you’re looking to booze some this weekend, this may just be the spot. Breweries from all over the county will be featured; a $25 ticket includes a meal and 10 beer tasters. 

 

6. Summer Safari at the San Diego Zoo

Starting this weekend and going allll the way until September 1, the San Diego Zoo will be hosting evening safari adventures each weekend until 7 p.m. This could be a chill date spot for any animal lover; there are kangaroos, wallabies, and much more. Also, guitar music, food and drink specials, and roaming magicians are also offered.

 

7. Coronado Summer Concert Series

The summer series in Coronado is looking to be as festive as any in its 49-year history. Concerts will be offered each weekend and it all kicks off on May 26 with the Coronado Concert Band & Crown Town.
