Austin Keen was born in Savannah, Georgia and raised amid the surf of Tybee Island. It didn’t take long for him to discover his thirst for the water, and eventually, his wave-riding obsession brought him west. In 2007, the then-teenager packed up his vintage 1975 BMW (he still owns it to this day) and set off for Laguna Beach, CA. And so began his celebration of palm trees, ocean breeze, and serious steez.
Within two years, Austin competed in his first pro skimboarding contest. It was exactly the experience he had dreamt of all those years before, and a gateway into an adulthood that would be styled by the surf. Traveling the world, in 2013 he was honored as the World Champion of Skimboarding upon competing in his first—and only—eight-stop international United Skim Tour Circuit. By 2015, he made the jump to wakesurfing, and within the year signed with LiquidForce. The days of working a plumbing apprenticeship quickly faded. It was go time.
It didn’t take long for this rising star to shine outside the conventional sports world, either. Austin’s personality is infectious; his approach to life fascinating. Mix that with an uncanny talent for content creation and it’s easy to understand how his viral video hit, “Hijacking a Boat Wake,” made its way to The Ellen Show in 2015.
Austin started fast and furious—and he hasn’t slowed down since.
A 2x world champion skimboarder, this action sports sensation has myriad other accomplishments to his name, all prior to the age of 30:
Austin understands that when you put yourself out there, sometimes you eat sand. But sometimes… sometimes you come up big. That’s what’s so epic about living a life that’s never watered down. And that’s why we love him.
Austin’s brand of vibrant living encapsulates everything at the core of Blenders. It’s like the guy dubbed “the most creative man on the water” has a soul styled for adventure; epicness just seems to radiate from him. We can’t wait to see where life takes him next. //
