You can’t live in forward motion if you’re always looking back, so it’s a good thing pro snowboarder Kyle Mack’s never made a habit of it. From the beginning, the West Bloomfield, Michigan native has been full speed ahead… and his life has turned out all the better for it.
CRASHING INTO DESTINY

OK, we exaggerated slightly. There was one moment, years back, when Blenders Entourage member Kyle Mack looked back, if only for a brief moment.

Beginning at the tender age of three, Kyle would slap on skis and slide joyously down his Michigan driveway after every snowfall. One afternoon, however, he suffered a hard crash, and in the days that followed, he didn’t want to continue on. The incident had him shook—and as a toddler, who could blame him? But his dad convinced him to strap on a snowboard instead, and everything since has been a beautiful, powder-filled dream—a wild ride punctuated by the gleam of some serious hardware.

FROM TRIPLE YEARS TO TRIPLE CORKS

By the age of five, Kyle took his burgeoning skills to Alpine Valley, devoting himself to the slopes no matter the weather conditions and earning the respect—and sponsorship—of Burton Snowboards two years later. In 2010, he scored first place at the Burton Open Junior Jam, and that’s when he really blew up on the scene.

Kyle’s performance at the Junior Jam earned him an invitation to join the US Snowboarding Team in 2011. Since then, he’s earned a bronze medal in both Big Air and Slopestyle at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships 2015; placed second at the Los Angeles leg of the Air & Style tour; and created serious separation from others in the sport when he took the title at the 2016 Burton U.S. Open.

All of the above led to a stunning, inspiring Big Air performance at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games that earned Mack and Team USA a silver medal. The win wasn’t just an exceptional prize for Kyle—it was historic. His feat marked the first time anyone landed back-to-back triple corks at the venue, as well as the first time anyone had ever landed a triple cork in Japanese competition, period.

NEVER LOOK BACK

Now an Olympic medalist and profoundly accomplished boarder, Kyle Mack is lightyears away from that crash on his driveway at the age of three, when he oh-so-briefly contemplated never making tracks again. But it’s been his determination to always push forward that’s brought him to the heights he’s at now—and it’s why we’re so hyped to be with Kyle for the journey ahead. //
