Peggy Coppom is known as a superfan in Boulder, Colorado for her decades of dedication and love for the CU Buffs. Peggy and her late twin sister, Betty, could always be spotted at home football games in the last row of section 104 rocking CU gear head to toe. Although Peggy lost her best friend, sister, and cheering partner, she carries on the loving spirit of “The Twins” that the CU community and Blenders hope to carry on for years to come.

In 2022, our journey began with a tip-off that we couldn’t ignore. Our founder Chase’s Dad kept raving about someone making waves—Coach Prime, Deion Sanders. After months of texts to Chase and discovering more about Coach Prime’s electrifying impact, we knew we had to act. We tracked down his address and sent him a box of our finest Blenders. The result? Coach was instantly hooked, igniting a partnership that was destined for greatness.
By June 2023, with the college football season on the horizon, we took our partnership to the next level. Teaming up with Coach Prime, we created sunglasses that weren’t just accessories—they were statements. We pushed our creative limits, and what emerged was nothing short of legendary. This was more than a collaboration; it was a revolution.
The college football season kicked off with a bang as Coach Prime stepped onto the field as the new head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes—a team coming off a rough 1-11 season. But Coach Prime wasn’t just stepping in; he was about to rewrite history. With back-to-back victories to start the season, what came next was beyond anything we could have imagined.
After two massive wins, CU Boulder was fired up for Game Three against their rivals, Colorado State. But just days before the showdown, the rivalry hit a boiling point. The opposing head coach took a personal shot at Coach Prime, declaring, “When I talk to grownups, I take my hat and glasses off.” He made this personal. It was like pouring gasoline on an already blazing fire. What was once the Rocky Mountain Showdown quickly transformed into 'The Hat and Sunglasses Bowl.' It was time to take this partnership public and show the world what we had.
Coach Prime didn’t just take the comments in stride—he turned them into fuel. He rallied the entire team, gifting them all a pair of our unreleased custom sunglasses. The all-gold coloring in our iconic Millenia style was the perfect blend of style and steeze. Coach Prime showed those boys how to rise to the occasion through his responses, and the weekend was just getting started.
The morning of the game, ESPN’s College GameDay was in town, bringing even more buzz to an already heated matchup. Throughout the weekend, our sunglasses were everywhere—worn by icons like The Rock, Erin Andrews, Pat McAfee, and countless others. We didn’t just go viral; we made history. This wasn’t just a moment; it was a movement, and it was nothing short of epic.
To cap off an unforgettable weekend, the game itself was a nail-biter. The Buffs pulled off a stunning 43-35 win in double overtime. As Coach Prime said, the team showed resilience and fought for every inch. That victory left the Buffs 3-0, kicking off the season with a perfect record.
From Friday through Sunday, Blenders and Coach Prime generated over $4 million in sales, marking a historic achievement in viral sports moments and the largest organic sales day in our history. At its peak, a pair of sunglasses was preordered every 10 seconds, showcasing the impact and virality of the moment. A prime example of being in the right place at the right time.
